Tintops Race 2

In race 2 Daz Leonard generously offered his drive to Rob Addison who was supposed to drive the now written off ZR of Dave Mellor. Rob started 5th ( the finishing position of James in race 1) and was up to 2nd place at one point but was narrowly beaten by Mick Weidner after running low on fuel by 2.4 Sec to finish fourth, giving an overal finish of 4th to the Barnett/Addison team. Posted by Picasa

MGZR

James qualified 7th and finished 5th in race 1 after a race long battle with the MGZR of Mick Weidner who finished 2.4 secs in front. Posted by Picasa

This is the other car involved in the incident on lap 2. Posted by Picasa

The Landing

This is where Dave decided to land his car after barrel rolling in the air at over 100 mph!, fortunately he was able to walk away just battered and bruised. Posted by Picasa

Mallory CSCC meeting 28th August 2006

James Barnett on the grid in Daz Leonards MGZR, this was taken after the first race was stopped when Dave Mellors MGZR turned into a surface to air missile and tried to land on James` bonnet. There will be close up photos of this accident posted on this site soon, watch this space. This was part of the CSCC Tintops 2 driver series but because of the unsuitability of the pit lane at Mallory was split into 2 races ( 1 for each driver) and the results amalgamated. Posted by Picasa

Brands

With Lee overtaken as well a podium position was secured , but only just as the car began to overheat again on the last 2 laps, never mind a trophy was Andy`s aim as Brands with its tight twists is not an ideal circuit for the long MG Montego, Thruxton however is a different matter.................. Posted by Picasa

With Stratton dispatched it was time to catch Lee Osullivan Posted by Picasa

A hole in a cooling pipe was the cause of the problem, a scrounge in the paddock produced a spare pipe and Andy was ready to race. Posted by Picasa
